Description
Originally, this experience was presented at a training for educators of various backgrounds, expertise, and learning goals seeking to incorporate arts integration learning experiences into their curriculum. Participants followed three series of prompts to move around a large room thinking about spatial orientation in relation to each other and cardinal directions. Most participants came within a driving distance so as people refined their positions, familiar landmarks were added to support shared understanding of the room as a map. Each series integrated moving to a position where a place of importance would be in relation to the cardinal points and each other, a prompt using drama elements to tell a story, and a drawing prompt to share an image after spending time creating a mental experience of that place through sensory prompts.
