Abstract

Students in high school often struggle to see connections between their in class work and real world applications. In this project we used methods and content from Pavement Design to inspire and inform a Problem Based Learning (PBL) project. Students engaged in analysis of local road distress and potential solutions. Students then design and construct and test model roadways out of chocolate and graham crackers.
