Abstract

In order to advance the knowledge of the impacts caused by redevelopment projects, this paper uses Chattanooga, TN as a case study. Chattanooga has a history of development cycles, most recently it is widely recognized for its successful revitalization efforts. The paper will include examples of impacts of Chattanooga’s revitalization, but examples from urban renewal within the city as well. My research question is: How does the push for revitalization including the redeveloping of lower income properties create a strain on economic resources, affordability, as well as cause a housing shortage creating an issue of displacement?
