Abstract

Complete mitochondrial genomes of South American electric fishes (Gymnotiformes) have been recovered to provide a new phylogenetic hypothesis. We report genomes from 39 species in all families in the order, ~90% of which have never been sequenced.

Revised phylogenetic hypothesis and comparative evolution of mitochondrial genomes of Neotropical weakly electric fishes (Gymnotiformes)

Complete mitochondrial genomes of South American electric fishes (Gymnotiformes) have been recovered to provide a new phylogenetic hypothesis. We report genomes from 39 species in all families in the order, ~90% of which have never been sequenced.
