Abstract
In Edward Hirsch’s Gabriel and Joshua Mensch’s Because, Hirsch and Mensch use poetry as a medium to process trauma. Both works are memory projects, an elegy and a memoir respectively, and both use unique, unconventional punctuation to convey meaning.
