Abstract
This book focuses on several themes, but the core topics I wanted to discuss were family, mental health, and grief. One of the initial premises I wanted to pursue was the creation of a perfect storm in which all enjoyment came at the cost of a painful reality. Amber is a woman who has gone through several devastating events, struggling to accept the reality she finds herself in. By virtue of the incredibly unlikely scenario of finding and falling in love with a rich man, she already has a difficult time believing that the things around her are real sometimes. Her past only adds fuel to her fears that she’s falling into a delusion.
Acknowledgments
I want to thank my thesis advising team, especially Professor Helms, for helping steer me in the right direction with this project, as well as my family and friends, who encouraged me to try writing this at all. I'd also like to thank Ethel Cain for inspiring this story with her haunting melodies and beautiful storytelling.
